On 4 October, at RGSU, during a meeting between the President of the Moscow Chess Federation, Vladimir Moronovich Palikhata and the Honorary President of the RCF, Vasily Ivanovich Zhukov, an agreement was reached, regarding the running of the International Cup RGSU - Moscow Open-2013 festival at the university, from 31 January – 11 February 2013.

The rector of RGSU, Professor Lidia Vasilievna Fedyakina, underlined the readiness of RGSU to host the festival for the 9th time. The prize fund of the event will be maintained at the same level as last year, and will amount to 3 500 000 roubles.

In the programme of the festival there will be eight events: stages of the Russian men's and women's Cups, an amateur tournament, veterans' tournament, a solving event, two round robin tournaments with GM norms for young players, and a children's qualifying tournament for the world and European schooldchildren's championships.

It should be added that the partners in running the event will be, as already for several years, the Directorate of Sports and Entertainment in Moscow.
